MUBI HALLOWEEN WATCH PARTY - Prano Bailey-Bond's CENSOR on MUBI 31st October

Join filmmaker Prano Bailey-Bond and The Finals Girls to celebrate the launch of CENSOR on MUBI this Halloween...

With a special new series The New Coven: A Female Horror Renaissance now showing on MUBI, we’re inviting you to spend an evening celebrating the burgeoning wave of woman-directed horror cinema, with Prano Bailey-Bond’s critically-acclaimed CENSOR (2020) premiering on Halloween, crowning the service’s exciting season of horror films directed by women.

Starting at 15:00 GMT on Sunday, October 31 MUBI will be giving away some delightfully spooky prizes across their social media channels – follow @mubiuk on Twitter to find out how to win. Prizes include limited edition posters designed by Laura Callaghan, temporary tattoos by Sophie Mo and Halloween-inspired popcorn by Joe and Seph's.

At 18:00 GMT Censor director Prano Bailey-Bond will be joined in conversation by former Empire Editor-in-Chief Terri White on MUBI’s UK Instagram, which will be followed at 19:00 GMT by a watch party of her acclaimed debut. The Censor watch party will be led by a tweet-along from MUBI’s UK Twitter account by The Final Girls, the film collective exploring the intersections between horror film and feminism.

The New Coven season kicked off on MUBI earlier this month with Alice Lowe’s darkly comedic revenge horror Prevenge (2016) starring herself while pregnant, followed by Anna Biller’s spellbinding The Love Witch (2016), and Jennifer Kent’s cult offering The Babadook (2014). The season takes a refreshing angle on the genre, exploring themes such as motherhood, gender roles, and trauma from a female perspective.
