September horrors from Arrow Video - Coming to 4K UHD and BD

Monsters, Madmen and Mad Robots come to UHD and BD this September, with the release of special limited edition versions of Clive Barker's UNDERWORLD, Rob Reiner's MISERY and the 50s Sci-Fi thriller FORBIDDEN PLANET, from Arrow Video

UNDERWORLD - Limited Edition 4K UHD release

From the mind of horror legend Clive Barker, director of Hellraiser and Nightbreed, comes UNDERWORLD, a chilling exploration of human transformation and the price of ambition.

Beneath the city lies a secret world inhabited by mutants addicted to a terrifying new drug created by the mysterious Dr Savary (Denholm Elliott). Their only hope of salvation lies in Nicole (Nicola Cowper), forced to work in a high-class brothel by Savary but, for reasons unknown, unaffected by the drug’s mutations. When the mutants kidnap Nicole, private investigator Roy Bain (Larry Lamb) is hired by the brothel’s owner (Steven Berkoff) to bring her home. But, as he descends deeper into the subterranean labyrinth, what starts as a rescue mission soon spirals into a frantic battle for survival.

Blending noir sensibilities with extreme body horror, this atmospheric thriller – released in the US as Transmutations – offers an intriguing glimpse into Barker’s early cinematic explorations of transformation and the grotesque. Now restored in vivid 4K, this Limited Edition includes both the theatrical cut and a longer, extended cut, compiled from the best known sources.

MISERY - Limited Edition 4K UHD/BD releases

From director Rob Reiner (Stand By Me, A Few Good Men) and screenwriter William Goldman (Marathon Man, All the President’s Men) comes Misery, a terrifying thriller based on the bestseller by Stephen King.

Caught in a snowstorm, bestselling romantic novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) suffers a horrific car accident but is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates). With the phone lines down and the roads out of use for the winter, Annie – who happens to be Paul’s “number one fan” – takes him home, sets his broken legs and tends him back to health. But fandom turns shockingly violent when Annie learns that Paul is moving on from the romance novels that made his name. Now trapped and at Annie’s mercy, Paul must write like his life depends on it... because it really does.

Bates (in an Academy Award-winning performance) and Caan are outstanding and are matched by a pitch-perfect supporting cast that includes Lauren Bacall, Richard Farnsworth and Frances Sternhagen. Reiner takes an unexpected turn to the darker side and proves himself an adept disciple of Alfred Hitchcock as he delivers shocks and suspense worthy of the master.

UK Premiere of Daniel Goldhaber’s FACES OF DEATH at Edinburgh Film Festival

Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) has announced that the Closing Night film of this year’s Midnight Madness strand will be the UK Premiere of Daniel Goldhaber’s wildly entertaining horror thriller FACES OF DEATH, courtesy of UK and Irish distributor Signature Entertainment who recently acquired the film produced by Legendary Pictures.  The sale was handled by 193, A Legendary Company and is set for general release in the UK and Ireland later this year.

In this eagerly awaited reboot by the provocative and exciting filmmaker behind recent cult hits Cam and How to Blow Up A Pipeline, a website content moderator (Barbie Ferreira: Euphoria) becomes obsessed with a series of disturbing videos that seem to recreate scenes from the iconic Faces of Death film series.

The film also stars Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), Josie Totah (The Buccaneers), Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), and global phenomenon Charli XCX.

Directed by Daniel Goldhaber who also co-wrote the screenplay with Isa Mazzei (Cam). Produced by Greg Gilreath (Heart Eyes), Adam Hendricks (Heart Eyes), Susan Montford (Shoot ‘Em Up), and Don Murphy (Transformers: The Last Knight). Executive producers are Rick Benattar (Bullet Head), Derek Bishé and Isa Mazzei.

The film joins this year’s Midnight Madness Opening Night film, the World Premiere of Chee Keong Cheung’s riotous action thriller Bad Day at the Office in bookending the Midnight Madness strand which runs throughout EIFF and unleashes the very best in new genre cinema from around the world. Recent years have seen the UK Premieres of Alien: Romulus, The Substance, The Toxic Avenger and World Premiere of Ben Wheatley’s Bulk.

Signature’s Senior Acquisitions Manager Katie Wilkinson-Javes said: “We were hooked from the start by this bold and highly commercial take on the beloved gore-filled cult classic. Led by a talented young cast who bring fresh energy to the franchise, the film delivers everything fans could want while introducing it to a new generation. We’re proud to launch at EIFF and then to bring the film to audiences across the UK and Ireland.”

EIFF CEO and Festival Director, Paul Ridd said: “Midnight Madness is all about bold voices, movies that take risks and filmmakers who embrace provocation. It is perfect that we close off this year's selection with such a stylish and ingenious movie from director Daniel Goldhaber and co-screenwriter Isa Mazzei. These two have quietly been making some of the most exciting, edgiest movies of the past decade, and with FACES OF DEATH they have crafted a reboot that is fresh, modern and full of ideas. It is also a total blast to watch with an audience. We are thrilled.”

Anthony Firth's behind the scenes look at working for Asylum films MOCKBUSTER - Coming to Digital outlets

A hilariously eye-opening and entertaining new feature documentary takes us behind the scenes of genre filmmaking The Asylum way – as a budding director chases his true dream of making movies

Welcome to The Asylum and meet once-promising Australian filmmaker Anthony Frith who, having fallen into the mundane world of directing corporate video, decides it’s time to pursue his true ambition… making movies. See what happens in the brand-new hilariously eye-opening and entertaining new feature documentary MOCKBUSTER.

The budding director’s dream collides with chaos and compromise, when he lands a surprise job and is pulled headlong into the weird and wonderful world of The Asylum – the notorious production house who introduced the world to the likes of Sharknado, King of the Ants, Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus and Titanic II.

Tasked by Hollywood’s B-movie kings with directing a lost-world dinosaur film in suburban Adelaide, on a six-day shoot and shoestring budget, he takes the bull by the horns. But he also decides to turn the camera on himself, filming a behind-the-scenes documentary as the chaos unfolds. Between demanding LA execs, a bewildered cast and his own creeping self-doubt, both productions push their first-time director to the brink.

MOCKBUSTER is a hilarious and unexpectedly poignant documentary about chasing the dream, through the absurd hustle of genre filmmaking, while a different kind of success awaits behind-the-scenes.

Hailed ‘a rare win for horror game adaptations’ (Ginger Nuts of Horror), award-winning director Jeremiah Kipp (Slapface) dials up the chills as he brings the much-loved game of demons and death to life, delving deeper into the lore of Brian Clarke’s cult first-person horror simulation.

The film follows Rebecca Owens (Willa Holland – The O.C., Arrow) – a newly certified mortician with a troubled past. First Vertical Show NIGHTMARISH - Launches on BloodStream

BloodStream, the horror, thriller and sci-fi streamer, is taking the vertical-video explosion to a new direction. On Sunday, June 28, the platform premieres NIGHTMARISH, its first serialised series built to be watched top-to-bottom on a phone and binged in sequence: a horror show shot vertically from the first frame for the same full-screen, thumb-driven format that has turned micro-drama into a multibillion-dollar habit.

NIGHTMARISH is a psychological-horror anthology engineered for the 9:16 frame, not a widescreen show cropped for mobile, with each episode a self-contained nightmare meant to be watched in order. Standout entries include Sleepyhead, in which a young woman who chases a viral online trend is stalked by a curse she has to pass to someone else before it claims her, and The Mare, where a fresh start curdles as a woman’s nightmares begin leaving real wounds on her body. The series leans into what actually lands on a phone screen, dread, paranoia and a jolt before you can look away, rather than the chases and fight scenes the vertical format tends to strangle.

The premiere extends a fast-moving year for BloodStream, which launched as a horror, thriller and sci-fi home stocked with festival titles from FrightFest, Fantasia and ScreamFest, a 24/7 FAST channel and a deep shorts library, and has been steadily rolling out originals. NIGHTMARISH TV marks its first step from a vertical catalog of one-off clips and shorts into vertical storytelling with a throughline.

The series comes from the Atlanta-based studio that shares its name. Nightmarish, the company, was founded in 2024 by filmmakers Madison Hoover and Jaime Lucero Jr., Who built the studio around the series after their debut short, The Mare. Working with an ensemble of emerging Atlanta talent, including Madison Hoover, Lauren Lox, Jason Williams, Emily Topper, and Rachel Faulkner, the pair set out to prove short-form horror can carry the weight of a feature while handing early-career actors and crew a credit that travels further than a single festival weekend.

"Every episode is a complete story with a feature-length world behind it, so the series doubles as a proving ground for ideas that can scale," added Jaime Lucero Jr., Co-founder of the Nightmarish studio. "A BloodStream release gives the actors and crew behind them an audience that usually only exists for one weekend on the festival circuit."

For subscribers, BloodStream is pairing new formats with the kind of extras the streaming era largely abandoned, commentary, behind-the-scenes footage and filmmaker interviews, a digital echo of the DVD bonus disc, and part of the platform’s pitch as a community for genre fans rather than just a catalog.

NIGHTMARISH premieres Sunday, June 28 on BloodStream.

BloodStream is the genre streaming service from The Horror Collective, the horror label of Studio Dome. A home for horror, thriller and sci-fi, BloodStream streams more than a thousand vertical videos alongside festival favorites, cult classics, shorts, 24/7 FAST channels, originals and DVD-style fan extras.

Extreme Movies FLOWERS and MAJESTIC FLESH FAUCET OR PROJECTILE BILE - Available for Pre-Order from TetroVideo

The pre-order is currently open through the official Outronox website (the new independent platform dedicated to cult underground cinema) for two new extreme TetroVideo releases: Flowers (USA, 2015) by Phil Stevens and Majestic Flesh Faucet of Projectile Bile (2025), the fourth entry in Jonathan Doe's extreme series Erotic Grotesque Nonsense.

Both titles will be released in limited, numbered, and certified Mediabook editions featuring a Slipcase, numbered Blu-rays, a Booklet, and four collectible cards.

These editions will only be available during the pre-order window and will not be available once pre-orders close.

FLOWERS

A dialogue-free blend of extreme horror and experimental cinema, Flowers relies entirely on visual storytelling. Mutilated bodies, oppressive environments, and a deliberately bleak aesthetic define this independent production, which was made on a modest budget and features handcrafted practical effects.

Phil Stevens later directed Lung II (2016) and Flowers 02 (2020), the prequel and sequel to Flowers, respectively.

The story follows six women who, after being brutally murdered, awaken in a disturbing dimension connected to the home of their killer. Trapped inside an underground labyrinth suspended between life and death, they are forced to confront painful memories and past traumas while a dark presence continues to haunt them. In this place shaped by suffering, escape seems impossible.

Colette Kenny McKenna, Krystle Fitch, Anastasia Blue, Tanya Erin Paoli, Kara A. Christiansen, Makaria Tsapatoris, Bryant W. Lohr Sr., and Raychelle Keeling star.

Edition Details: Two numbered Blu-rays.

Disc 1: Flowers; Storyboards; Official Trailer; Paradis – Teaser Trailer.

Disc 2: Flowers Noir Cut; Making Of; Deleted Scenes; Photo Gallery.

MAJESTIC FLESH FAUCET OF PROJECTILE BILE

Directed by Jonathan Doe, Majestic Flesh Faucet of Projectile Bile is the latest entry in the Erotic Grotesque Nonsense series, which also includes Barf Bunny (2021), The Degenerates (2021), and Defilement of a Porcelain Doll (2022). These works are united by an extreme portrayal of sexuality and an openly provocative approach aimed at a niche audience.

Like the previous installments, this new chapter embraces a lo-fi aesthetic and abandons conventional storytelling in favor of excess. The film explores themes of blasphemy, apostasy, Satanism, and mysophilia, a paraphilia associated with attraction to dirt and bodily secretions. The film stars Regan Fox, known for her ability to vomit without using her hands.

Structured in four chapters, Majestic Flesh Faucet of Projectile Bile is conceived by Jonathan Doe as a kind of Bible revisited through the lens of extreme horror. Through its episodic format, the film reworks and subverts religious symbols, creating a provocative journey that culminates in a depiction of the death of faith embodied by Regan Fox's performance.

Edition Details: Numbered Blu-ray.

Special Features: Photo Gallery.

Supernatural folk horror THE MORRIGAN - Coming to Digital outlets

THE MORRIGAN, the supernatural horror-thriller about the vengeful spirit of a shapeshifting mythical queen released from an ancient tomb, is unleashed on digital platforms in the UK and Ireland on 29th June from Thunderbird Releasing.

Written and directed by Colum Eastwood - named as one of Screen International UK’s Star of Tomorrow in 2020. The film’s striking pre-credit sequence, set in ancient Pagan Ireland, sets the tone for the fiery, bloody and chilling mayhem to follow.

SYNOPSIS:
A successful archaeologist but absentee mother travels to Ireland to excavate a centuries old tomb. But within the site lurks a danger hidden from mankind for centuries. Once it is unleashed she must battle to save her rebellious teenage daughter from possession by a vengeful Pagan War Goddess, the Morrigan.

THE MORRIGAN, based on Eastwood’s award-winning short film, is a fantastic addition to the ever popular folk horror genre, joining the ranks of supernatural Irish chillers The Hole in the Ground directed by Lee Cronin, Corin Hardy’s The Hallow, and Damian McCarthy’s box office hit Hokum, and Eastwood looks set to join those directors as another purveyor of gruesome and unnerving horror.

With a superb cast including Saffron Burrows (Baghead, Deep Blue Sea) as the archaeologist who breaks the seal on an ancient tomb, and unleashes something that should have stayed buried, Toby Stephens (Severance), James Cosmo (The Hole In The Ground, Braveheart), Emily Flain (Marcella), Art Parkinson (Game of Thrones) and Antonia Campbell-Hughes (Bright Star), THE MORRIGAN features a nerve-jangling score by James Everett (Bad Day For The Cut)

Icelandic vampire comedy THIRST - Coming to UK Streaming Platforms

Somewhere in the frozen darkness of Reykjavík, something very old and very hungry has been waiting. For a thousand years, Hjörtur has lurked in the shadows — a gay vampire of considerable sass, and very specific appetites…

Meanwhile, Hulda is having the worst week of her life. A drug addict freshly released from police custody following her brother’s suspicious death, she has nowhere to go and no one to turn to — until she meets Hjörtur. In what he almost certainly considers a friendly gesture; the ancient vampire resurrects her dead brother.

It does not go well.

Now the two unlikely companions find themselves on the run — from a fanatical cult in purple tracksuits, a rogue detective, and the steadily mounting consequences of a thousand-year-old monster who simply does not know when to stop. The blood flows freely. The body count rises cheerfully. And somewhere in the neon-lit, gore-soaked chaos, an unlikely friendship is forged.

Some friendships are worth dying for. Repeatedly.

THIRST is a campy horror comedy from Iceland with award-winning special effects and a larger than undead performance from Hjörtur Sævar Steinason as our lovelorn vampire. It’s destined to become a cult classic.

DANZA MACABRA VOLUME 5: THE SPANISH GOTHIC COLLECTION BOX SET - Coming from Severin

Severin Films today announced the forthcoming release of DANZA MACABRA VOLUME FIVE: THE SPANISH GOTHIC COLLECTION.

With their fifth installment of “an essential series of Euro-Gothic tastiness” (Mondo Digital), Severin returns to the cemeteries, catacombs and cobwebbed castles of Spanish cinema for an all-new exploration of Gothic Horror excellence with 4 uncut classics on 5 discs

In the North American Disc Premiere of 1964’s STRANGE VOYAGE, director Fernando Fernán Gómez crafts a macabre true-crime shocker featuring a poignant performance by none other than Jess Franco. The disturbing 1971 drama EXORCISM’S DAUGHTER is presented in its complete U.S. Version – now featuring the infamous orgy sequence – as well as the original Spanish Version LAS MELANCÓLICAS, both on disc for the first time ever.

THE DRACULA SAGA is 1973’s grisly reinvention of vampiric damnation from the legendary León Klimovsky, uncut in North America for the first time ever. And in 1985’s acclaimed THE TURN OF THE SCREW, controversial director Eloy de la Iglesia adapts Henry James’ classic novella with a startling psychosexual twist. Each film in this collection has been scanned from original camera negatives or archival 35mm prints, with 10+ combined hours of new audio commentaries, video essays, interview featurettes and more.

DANZA MACABRA VOLUME FIVE is now available for pre-order at The Severin Webstore.

In addition, all four previous volumes of DANZA MACABRA will be available for 50% off SRLP through June 8th.

Disc 1: STRANGE VOYAGE (1964)

In 1964, renowned novelist, playwright and actor Fernando Fernán Gómez directed his most controversial film, “a truly remarkable” (Cinemagavia) gothic horror black comedy based on a shocking true crime, condemned by government censors upon its release and featuring a surprisingly poignant performance by none other than Jess Franco: In an old dark house on the outskirts of a rural village, a matriarch cruelly bullies her two childlike adult siblings.

But when dread leads to murder, will repression and deceit bring about the most depraved acts of all? Carlos Larrañaga (THE PRIDE AND THE PASSION), Tota Alba (STRANGE LOVE OF THE VAMPIRES), Lina Canalejas (BLOOD HUNT) and María Luisa Ponte (EUGENIE) co-star in this “masterpiece of artistic subversion” (The Postmodern Pelican), now scanned in 2K from the original camera negative with over 2 hours of new Special Features.

Disc 2 – 3: EXORCISM’S DAUGHTER (1971)

Francisco Rabal (SORCERER, DAGON), Espartaco Santoni (THE FEAST OF SATAN) and Helga Liné (THE VAMPIRES NIGHT ORGY) co-star in this “disturbing” (Mondo Digital) gothic drama written and directed by Rafael Moreno Alba (DREAM KISS), presented in its original Spanish Version LAS MELANCÓLICAS scanned in 4K from the original camera negative plus the complete U.S. Version (also known as THE HOUSE OF INSANE WOMEN) with additional footage – including the infamous inmate orgy sequence – now sourced from an archival 35mm print, with over 2 hours of new Special Features.

From famed director León Klimovsky (THE NIGHT OF THE WALKING DEAD, THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THE DARK) comes the daring gothic shocker hailed as “one of the most original vampire films in Spanish horror cinema” (Cine Maldito): When Dracula’s pregnant granddaughter (Tina Sáinz) and her upstanding husband (Tony Isbert of TRAGIC CEREMONY) arrive at the Count’s castle, it will birth a nightmare of profane seduction, ancestral damnation and inconceivable vampiric carnage.

Helga Liné (THE LORELEY’S GRASP), María Kosty (NIGHT OF THE SEAGULLS) and Narciso Ibáñez Menta (THE BEAST MUST DIE) co-star in this “bizarre Spanish gem” (Bloody Pit of Horror) co-written by Emilio Martínez Lázaro (CAKE OF BLOOD) and Juan Tébar (THE LEGEND OF BLOOD CASTLE), now scanned in 2K from the original camera negative with over 2 hours of new Special Features.

But when he begins to believe that the estate is haunted by the ghost of the previous cruel caretaker, it will unlock an ordeal of lost innocence, forbidden desire and immoral terror. Queta Claver (THE PRIEST) co-stars in this provocative shocker – “a thoughtful drama with shades of SALÒ” (Beyond Boundaries) – now scanned in 4K from the original camera negative with over 3 hours of new Special Features.

Darkly comic STEPHANE and Cult slasher KILLER PARTY - Coming to Disc from Arrow

Underrated horror gems STEPHANE and KILLER PARTY are being released to Disc this August from Arror Video...

STEPHANE

Skilfully blending elements of Mark Duplass’ Creep with 1992’s Man Bites Dog, alongside mis matched buddy movies such as The Cable GuySTEPHANE is a darkly comic thriller set in the world of amateur film-making that is as bleakly funny as it is disturbingly twisted.

When Tim (Bastien Garcia), a committed and aspiring filmmaker, encounters the eccentric Stéphane (Lucas Pastor), it seems like a match made in heaven. Stéphane claims to be an experienced SFX supervisor and stuntman who quickly impresses Tim with his home-made pyrotechnics.

The two men decide to embark on a journey to Stéphane’s private island to film an ambitious World War II epic, along with Stéphane’s acquaintance, a selective mute refugee actress named Bianca (Eva Gregorieff). But as Tim and Stéphane’s movie-making odyssey develops, it soon becomes apparent that neither of them may be what they claim, and tensions quickly escalate.

Part found-footage, part sinister thriller and part self-reflexive black comedy, Stéphane is punk filmmaking at its finest, right up until the final, chilling post-credits scene.
