Cast announced for 2:22 A GHOST STORY at the Lyric Theatre, January

Producer Runaway Entertainment is delighted to announce casting news for the fourth West End  transfer of Danny Robins’ edge-of-your-seat, supernatural thriller 2.22 - A GHOST STORY.

Cheryl will play Jenny, Hugo Chegwin will play Ben, Louise Ford with play Lauren and Scott Karim will play Sam.

The current cast at the Criterion Theatre will perform until 8th January 2023, with the new cast taking over at the Lyric Theatre from 21st January - 23 April 2023.

Moving from the Criterion to the Lyric, the show’s biggest house to date, the transfer follows a record breaking run at the Noel Coward before moving to the Gielgud Theatres followed by two hugely successful runs, including with the current cast, at the Criterion Theatre, plus three Olivier Nominations including Best New Play, and winning the Best New Play category in the Whatsonstage awards.

Cheryl (who will play Jenny) said: 'I am really excited to be taking part in what is such a new challenge for me. I have always loved and been a big fan of theatre so I’m especially excited to be playing the role of Jenny in this production of 2:22. It is a brilliant role and subject matter with a very interesting plot! Danny Robins is such an intriguing character which is evident throughout this play and his style of writing has an odd sense of familiarity to me, being a fellow Geordie! I look forward to working with Matthew and the other cast members and can’t wait to get going.’

Hugo Chegwin (who will play Ben) said: ‘I am so appreciative to have been asked to be a part of the next cast of 2.22. It’s a big jump out of my comfort zone but it is going to be amazing.’

Scott Karim (who will play Sam) said: ‘It’s a real treat to be part of a production like 2.22 - A GHOST STORY, that grips and chills all types of theatregoers. I can’t wait to join the exciting new cast and help tell this thrilling story.’

The production began its life in the summer of 2021 at the Noel Coward Theatre starring Lily Allen, Julia Chan, Hadley Fraser and Jake Wood. It then transferred to the Gielgud Theatre for 10 weeks from 4 December 2021. The production there, starring Stephanie Beatriz, James Buckley, Elliot Cowan and Giovanna Fletcher, completed its run on 12 February 2022. The first cast at the Criterion Theatre featured Tom Felton, Mandip Gill, Beatriz Romilly, Sam Swainsbury and the current Criterion Theatre cast Tamsin Carroll as Lauren; Felix Scott as Sam, Matt Willis as Ben and Laura Whitmore as Jenny, ends its run on 8 January.

The US premiere of 2.22 - A GHOST STORY at the Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles opened on 29 October and ended its run on 4 December 2022.

2.22 - A GHOST STORY is written by award-winning writer Danny Robins, creator of the hit BBC podcast The Battersea Poltergeist and it is directed by Matthew Dunster. Intriguing, funny and scary, it takes audiences into one adrenaline-fueled night where secrets will emerge and ghosts may appear….What do you believe? And do you dare to discover the truth?

Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and her new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer, so they are going to stay up… until 2.22am… and then they will know.

Boyd Holbrook and Kelly Reilly star in Werewolf horror EIGHT FOR SILVER - On Disc and Digital January

Mediumrare Entertainment announces the fantasy horror EIGHT FOR SILVER is being released on DVD and Blu-ray on 30 January 2023.

Flickering candles, fog, and a ferocious beast in the forest… get ready for a fresh spin on the werewolf film, written and directed by Oscar and Bafta-nominated Sean Ellis (Cashback, Metro Manila)

The film boasts a superb cast, including Boyd Holbrook (The Sandman) and Cannes-winner Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone), in an eerie story about a small town in 19th century France menaced by an ancient curse.

In the late 1800s, a once-peaceful remote country village is under attack - but by who or what, no one knows. Villagers spread rumours of a cursed land, supernatural forces, and even demonic creatures, as the disappearances and killings continue. Pathologist John McBride (Boyd Holbrook) arrives to investigate the danger, only to discover something much deeper and more sinister than he ever could have imagined.

Sumptuously shot, packed with frights and superb special effects, with a mesmerising, spine-tingler of a score, and featuring a scarecrow “that’ll haunt your dreams” (Bloody Disgusting), the film recalls, according to Screen Daily “everything from Hammer to The Innocents, Dracula to creepy country house Gothic horror”.

A creature feature classic for the 21st-century, that The Screen Scene calls “one of the best horror films of the year”, EIGHT FOR SILVER will thrill and delight horror fans who got a kick out of the likes of contemporary horror hits The Witch and Hereditary.

Extras include:

- Behind the Scenes of 'Eight For Silver': An overview of the production, with cast and crew interviews exploring story points, characterization, and the material's approach to werewolf-style horror.

Mystery and Folkore in JANUARY - At Cinemas and Digitally, 27th Jan

Five men caught in a limbo between life and death, past and present, communism and capitalism, known and unknown, try to resolve a mystery, which slowly devours them.

In the middle of nowhere, five men are stuck in a snowstorm. One has to cross the Woods to reach town, but that’s madness in the midst of winter: the wolves are hungry and can be heard howling all night long, and who knows what other creatures roam these woods…?

Inspired by the eponymous play by Nobel Prize Nominee Yordan Radichkov and reinterpreted for world audiences by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Andrey Paounov, January is a bold fiction debut from a director who has made a name by exploring, with a sense of humour, the existential absurdities of the post-socialist state in the language of cinema.

Directed by Andrey M Paounov (Georgi & The Butterflies, The Mosquito Problem and Other Stories), and written by Andrey M Paounov and Alex Barrett (London Symphony), January won a Special Jury Prize and The Critics’ Guild Award at Golden Rose Bulgarian Fiction Film Festival, was an official selection at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and won Best Director at the Sofia International Film Festival.

.COM FOR MURDER - On Blu-ray 6th Feb

In cyberspace, no one can hear you scream! This turn-of-the-millennium cyber psycho-thriller from Nico Mastorakis (Island of Death, Nightmare at Noon) showcases the usual gleeful eye for excess and inspired casting (including rock stars Roger Daltrey and Huey Lewis) one has come to expect from the cult director.

Nastassja Kinski (Cat People) stars as Sondra Brummel, a young woman confined to a wheelchair following a skiing accident, who decides to have a bit of fun on an internet dating site with her friend Misty (Nicollette Sheridan - The Sure Thing) while her architect boyfriend Ben (Roger Daltrey The Legacy) leaves her alone for the weekend in the high-tech intelligent mansion he has built for them.

GIALLO ESSENTIALS WHITE EDITION - On Limited Edition Blu-ray Feb 23

At the height of the Italian giallo boom of the early 1970s, scores of filmmakers turned their hand to crafting their own unique takes on these lurid murder-mysteries. This volume of Giallo Essentials presents three distinctly different but equally thrilling examples of genre, featuring some of European cult cinema’s most recognizable faces.

In The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave, director Emilio P. Miraglia (The Red Queen Kills Seven Times) melds the giallo’s trademark twisty whodunit storytelling with gothic chills, as troubled aristocrat Alan Cunningham (Anthony Steffen - Django the Bastard) is haunted by the specter of his dead wife Evelyn, and the gruesome and untimely deaths of several members of his family.

Next, Riccardo Freda’s (Double Face) The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire finds tough ex-cop John Norton (Luigi Pistilli - A Bay of Blood) drafted in to catch the acid-throwing, razor-wielding maniac who’s terrorizing the streets of Dublin. Finally, Sergio Martino’s (Torso) The Suspicious Death of a Minor melds giallo trappings with elements of the then flourishing poliziotteschi crime thrillers, as undercover cop Paolo Germi (Claudio Cassinelli - What Have They Done to Your Daughters?) hunts a Milanese criminal outfit following the brutal murder of a teenage prostitute.

Brutal violence, globe-trotting intrigue and abundant sleaze collide in these three quintessential gialli, each one fully restored from its original camera negative and presented alongside an array of incisive bonus features.

Female Horror Filmmaker Breaks Crowdfunding Record with H.P. Lovecraft adaptation HAUNTER OF THE DARK

24 year old Megan Tremethick has just burst onto the indie horror filmmaking scene, with a spectacular funding campaign to produce a short film adaptation of THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK by horror legend H.P. Lovecraft. As a first-time horror filmmaker, Megan’s Kickstarter campaign met its ambitious funding goal in just 24 hours, and has already surpassed 500% of that goal in just 6 days.

The success of this young woman may be attributed to an unlikely and charming demeanour, placing her at odds with what one often expects from trendy young filmmakers today. Less about social commentary, hashtags or isms, Megan instead proclaims her love of veteran Horror Icons such as Vincent Price and Edgar Allan Poe.

THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK follows the chilling midnight adventures of a man, who is lured from his bed to investigate the dark recesses of a mysterious church tower. There, and alone in the darkness of that place, he encounters a chilling entity… a silhouetted figure, guarding an ancient crystal of incredible power. A crystal which carries a terrible curse.

The film stars Gordon Holliday, whose visceral performance as an enthusiastic amputee was praised by the Soska Sisters, in Andy Stewart’s festival hit film, "Dysmorphia"

The initial success of Megan’s crowdfunding campaign, has now also led to the successful funding of a second short film entitled, REVENGE OF INNSMOUTH

REVENGE OF INNSMOUTH is a startling horror set in a dystopian future, in which,  in a reversal of roles, the oppressed inhabitants of Innsmouth mount a violent bid for liberation against their hated human oppressors. Caught in the maelstrom of terror during the first night of their revolution is a young waitress, whose diner becomes the setting for brutal violence and unspeakable horror.

But… who are the real monsters? The feared, fish-like creatures of Innsmouth, or the humans who keep them under lock and key?

The campaign now continues to raise funds for both films on Kickstarter, where Megan is offering digital downloads, artwork, production credits and even walk-on roles.

The success of her campaign proves that a passionate audience for classic horror continues to exist, and that among young filmmakers today, there is no lack of affection for historic horror icons whose works continue to stand the test of time.

Last chance to see 2:22 - A GHOST STORY - at the Criterion Theatre, for not-so silent night.

Producer Runaway Entertainment’s edge-of-your-seat, supernatural thriller 2:22 A GHOST STORY is one of the West End’s current major success stories and is set to transfer to its largest venue the Lyric Theatre where previews begin on 21 January. There are just 6 weeks left to see the current cast Tamsin Carroll, Felix Scott, Laura Whitmore and Matt Willis, with the final performance at the Criterion on 8 January.

With a range of pantos and numerous Christmas Carol’s on stage this festival season,
2:22 - A GHOST STORY brings new meaning to the phrase ‘behind you!’ and definitely has more jump-scares than the classic Dickens tale.  This is a ghost story for the modern age with more night terrors than Scrooge can shake a stick at.
Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and her new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Bring in the New Year with Rob Zombie's THE MUNSTERS on Disc!

Mediumrare Entertainment announces the horror comedy THE MUNSTERS is being released on Collector’s Edition DVD and Blu-ray on 2 January 2023, complete with must-see extra features.
From writer/director Rob Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects) comes the strangest love story ever told! Based on the beloved TV series from the 1960s about a family of friendly monsters trying to fit in, Zombie’s version features Sheri Moon Zombie (Halloween) and Jeff Daniel Phillips (Westworld) as Lily and Herman Munster, and Daniel Roebuck (Final Destination) as The Count. The cast also includes Doctor Who himself, Sylvester McCoy, as Igor, Lost star Jorge Garcia, and genre superstar Cassandra Peterson, better known as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.

Lily is just your typical 150-year-old, lovelorn vampire looking for the man of her nightmares . . . that is until she lays eyes on Herman, a seven-foot-tall, green experiment with a heart of gold. It’s love at first shock as these two ghouls fall fangs over feet in this crazy Transylvanian romance. Unfortunately, it’s not all smooth sailing in the cemetery as Lily’s father The Count has other plans for his beloved daughter’s future, and they don’t involve her bumbling beau Herman.
Filmed in bright day-glo colours, brimming with hilarious jokes and monstrously funny slapstick, not to mention all the werewolves, vampires and witches you can handle, this is a delightfully gothic delight that ghouls and gals of all ages will love. With nods to vintage horror classics along the way, and a beautiful tribute to the original series, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll howl at the moon as THE MUNSTERS make their way to Mockingbird Lane!
Collector’s Edition Disc Extra Features:
- The Munsters: Return to Mockingbird Lane - From the mind of Rob Zombie, this hour-long look behind the scenes of The Munsters gives an intimate window into his film-making process. Watch as he weaves his way through the production and collaborates with a dedicated team to bring his unique vision to life.
- Feature Commentary with Director/Writer/Producer Rob Zombie
THE MUNSTERS will be released on Collector’s Edition DVD and Blu-ray on 2 January 2023.
