French-Belgian cannibal horror RAW gets Standard Ed. Blu-ray release from Second Sight

Get ready for a second helping of RAW, the deliciously dark tale of a strict vegetarian who discovers a taste for human flesh after heading to a brutal veterinary college where initiation ceremonies are the norm, gets a Standard Edition Blu-ray release thanks to Second Sight Films.

BAFTA nominated and Palme d’Or winner Julia Ducournau's (Titane) shocking feature film debut was acclaimed by critics after a barnstorming debut at Toronto International Film Festival, where paramedics had to be called after audience members fainted at the film's premiere.

Now, after wowing audiences on its initial release and its hugely successful Limited Edition, Second Sight has once again pulled the Raw ingredients together for the brilliant Raw Standard Edition release, that has a full menu of extras.

Shy student Justine (Garance Marillier – Warning, Titane), heads to a veterinary school and is subjected a tough series of hazing rituals from fellow students. And it's even tougher for vegetarian Justine as she is covered in blood and forced to eat raw meat. But after tasting the flesh, Justine finds herself craving even more meat - and it doesn't matter if it's animal or human as her uncontrollable desires lead to a horrific outcome.

Second Sight has produced a sumptuous buffet for your delectation, with features including interviews with star Garance Marilier and producer Jean des Forets, commentary from critic Alexandra West, as well as interviews and commentaries from Julia Ducournau and plenty more, this is a dish that tastes as good as it looks.

Indie horror-comedy VAMPIRE ZOMBIES…FROM SPACE! launches Kickstarter

The 1950s sci-fi spoof VAMPIRE ZOMBIES…FROM SPACE! is going into production in early August and the filmmaking team has launched their Kickstarter campaign. If you put the films of Mel Brooks, Ed Wood and the humor of South Park into a blender you’d get VAMPIRE ZOMBIES…FROM SPACE! an over-the-top comedy feature that pays homage to, and satirizes, science fiction and horror films from the past.

From the depths of space, Dracula has devised his most dastardly plan yet, turning the residents of a small American town into his personal army of vampire zombies! A motley crew consisting of a grizzled detective, hot-shot rookie cop, chain-smoking greaser, and determined young woman band together to save the world from — (see title).

The film will be directed and produced by Mike Stasko, whose past films have played in festivals around the world and have featured the likes of Fred Willard, (Anchorman, Best in Show) Ray Wise, (Twin Peaks, Robocop) Colin Mochrie, (Whose Line is it Anyway?) Tom Cavanaugh, (The Flash) Graham Greene, (Dances with Wolves) and Kevin McDonald (The Kids in the Hall, That 70s Show).

The film is co-written and co-produced by Fun Uncle comedy sketch duo’s Jakob Skrzypa, who has served as a producer for MTV/Paramount’s The Challenge, has worked on Survivor, Big Brother Canada, Nathan for You and as a remote editor for Troma entertainment.

“We have so many amazing Windsor filmmakers and artists working on this project, it's going to be a huge group effort. Any support we can get through this Kickstarter campaign will be going directly back into the community, fostering our local artists” says director Stasko. “The film is a great mix of modern raunchy comedy and classic old school cinema”, adds writer Skrzypa.

The film has secured funding, but the filmmakers have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help round out the budget and make sure it’s filled with gruesome practical effects, b-movie miniatures, and gut-busting laughs.

The Kickstarter campaign starts July 5th and runs for 30 days.

2.22 A GHOST STORY - 18 Week extended run at The Criterion Theatre

Producer Runaway Entertainment is delighted to announce that the critically acclaimed, smash hit, supernatural thriller  2.22 A GHOST STORY will extend its run at The Criterion Theatre when the current run ends on 4 September.  It will play a 18 week season running through to 8 January 2023. The extension means that the production will have its first Halloween performance on Monday 31 October - be afraid!

Last week the Center Theatre Group announced the US premiere of 2:22 A Ghost Story at the Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles where it will run from 29 October to 4 December 2022.

The production began its life last summer at the Noel Coward Theatre starring Lily Allen, Julia Chan, Hadley Fraser and Jake Wood. It then transferred to the Gielgud Theatre for 10 weeks from 4 December 2021. The production there, starring Stephanie Beatriz, James Buckley, Elliot Cowan and Giovanna Fletcher, completed its run on 12 February 2022. The current cast at the Criterion Theatre features Tom Felton as Sam, Mandip Gill as Jenny, Beatriz Romilly as Lauren and Sam Swainsbury as Ben. Cast details for the extended run will be announced soon.

Following three record-breaking seasons at the Noel Coward, Gielgud Theatre and Criterion Theatre, with a host of acclaimed star performances, this edge-of-your-seat, supernatural thriller will extend its run at the Criterion Theatre for 18 weeks.

2:22 is written by award-winning writer Danny Robins, creator of the hit BBC podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, and is directed by Matthew Dunster. Look out for the clues to unlock the mystery in this brilliantly funny and intriguing play; it’s an adrenaline-filled night where secrets emerge and ghosts may, or may not, appear…

Danny Robins said: 'When this play opened in the summer of 2021 I couldn't have dreamed that we'd be where we are now - in our third West End theatre, planning our fourth season! With each run, it’s been so great to see our new casts make it their own, and I'm so delighted that this modern ghost story of mine keeps connecting with audiences. I hope it's more than just a play, it's an exciting, adrenaline-filled night out that will have you laughing and jumping in equal measure and then you'll spend the rest of the night talking about it with your mates, trying to crack the mystery! Do ghosts really exist? There's only one way to find out - get yourself down to the Criterion to see 2:22!'

Matthew Dunster said: 'On we go again! It’s such a thrill to know we get to extend our run of 2:22 at the Criterion through Christmas and into the New Year. And we finally get to do our spooky play on Halloween. What a night that will be.

When we dared to put this new play straight into the West End last summer we couldn’t have dreamed it would stir the people’s imagination in the way it has this past year. We love doing Danny’s wonderful play for our audiences, and their ongoing loyalty to the show and their joy at discovering each new cast has been so exciting for us..'

What do you believe? And do you dare discover the truth?

Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and something is getting closer, so they’re going to stay up... until 2:22... and then they’ll know.
