It's Cowboys VS Werewolves in "Blood Moon".

Referee the ultimate showdown between gunslinger and lycanthrope when acclaimed western-horror "Blood Moon" hits US DVD and Digital September 1 from Uncork’d Entertainment.

 

The old west howls when a town is overtaken by skinwalkers. Knowing they’ve got to combine forces if they want to survive the night, the passengers of a stagecoach unite with a heroic gunslinger and a couple of outlaws to battle the beastly enemy under the blood moon.

 

Only the second ever western to be filmed in the UK, the award-winning film stars The Woman in Black’s Shaun Dooley, George Blagden (TVs Vikings), Anna Skellern (The Descent II) and Corey Johnson (Captain Phillips).  Jeremy Wooding directs from an Alan Wightman script.

 

A festival favourite ("Blood Moon" premiered at FrightFest and has since gone on to play in no less than another half-a-dozen high-profile film festivals),  "Blood Moon" is both a unique twist on the werewolf film and a riveting update on the classic western.

"Cub" - out now on UK DVD and Digital.

Out now on DVD and Digital, Sam is an imaginative but vulnerable twelve year-old, who heads off to camp with his Cub Scouts troupe.

 

Mistrusted by the pack leader Peter and isolated by the other scouts, he becomes convinced a terrible fate awaits them in the forest after he discovers a mysterious lair.

 

When Sam tries to warn them, they ignore him and his darkest fears soon come to life as one by one his fellow scouts are hunted down leaving him to fight back to survive.

Mayhem festival announce first 2 films and first guest.

The Mayhem Festival, which runs from Oct 15-18 at The Broadway cinema Nottingham, are very excited to announce Steve Oram’s "Aaaaaaaah"! and Karyn Kusama’s "The Invitation" as the first two films from this year’s line-up.

Karyn Kusama’s "The Invitation" will be the closing film of the festival on Sunday 18 October. Hailed as Kusama’s strongest work by Variety, "The Invitation" is a deeply disturbing, slow burn horror thriller from the director of "Jennifer’s Body".

 

Making his return to Mayhem, will be Steve Oram (Sightseers) with his directorial debut "Aaaaaaaah!" produced by Andrew Starke and executive produced by Ben Wheatley (Rook Films). The film, which contains no traditional dialogue, is an insane and hilarious collision of Romeo and Juliet and The Planet of the Apes in suburbia. Steve Oram will be there to present the film and take part in a post-screening Q&A.

 

Two great films which really reflect the diversity of the programme, ranging from surreal dark comedy to atmospheric, unsettling tension. Mayhem are also really excited to be welcoming Steve Oram back, after his previous collaboration with Ben Wheatley, Sightseers, proved such a hit with our audience in 2012.

James Wan presents "Demonic" - coming to UK DVD

Blair Witch Project meets Sinister in "Demonic", a supernatural shocker from producer James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring), which comes to UK DVD in Sept following its premiere at this months Frightfest.

When Detective Mark Lewis (Frank Grillo - The Grey, Captain America) is called to a local house, he finds the bodies of three slaughtered college students. The only survivor, John (Dustin Milligan -  Final Destination 3, Slither) claims they held a séance to summon ghosts of people killed in the house years earlier. Now, three of his friends are dead and two are missing – including his pregnant girlfriend.

Teaming up criminal psychologist Dr Elizabeth Klein (Maria Bello - Prisoners, History of Violence), Det. Lewis investigates the videotapes discovered at the scene to try and uncover what really happened that night. What they find is more terrifying than they ever could have imagined…

The film receives it's European Premiere at the Film4 FrightFest on 28th August. It will then be released to UK DVD from Monday 7th Sept. by Icon Home Entertainment.

First Grimmfest 2015 Films announced & more tickets released!

Grimmfest, the annual horror festival, taking place at the Odeon Printworks, Manchester between 1-4 October 2015, have just announced the first 3 films screening at this years festival.

HE NEVER DIED (UK PREMIERE)

Starring Henry Rollins the frontman of legendary punk band Black Flag, HE NEVER DIED follows Jack, who's in a rut. Depression and severe anti-social behavior has whittled down his existence to sleeping and watching television. Seeing the human race as little more than meat with a pulse, Jack has no interest to bond with anyone.

 

There’s little purpose for him to make friends with someone he’d eventually eat or outlive by more than a millennia. The fuse is lit when Jack’s past comes back to rattle him. Jack must now walk a tight rope of sobriety and try to eat as few people as possible in this violent tale of personal responsibility.

 

SYNCHRONICITY (UK PREMIERE)

Excess Flesh is the new shocking body horror from writer and director Patrick Kennelly. The film centres around Jill who is obsessed with her new roommate Jennifer, a promiscuous and sexy hotshot in the LA Fashion scene. New to the city and recently single, Jill is unable to keep up as she binges and purges to stay thin; eventually hating herself and everyone around her.

 

Her jealousy and rage spiral out of control — Jennifer has everything, and Jill wants to be just like her. If Jill can’t BE Jennifer, she must destroy her.

'Rowdy' Roddy Piper - RIP

Some very sad news to start the weekend with. It seems Wrestling legend and cult film star 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper has passed away at the age of 61, following an apparent heart attack.

 

Piper was a wrestling icon -- one of the biggest stars in the WWE back in the '80s, and even wrestled in "Wrestlemania I" back in 1985 ... squaring off against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.

 

However, horror and sci-fi fans probably best knew him from his roles in cult movies, such as "Sci-Fighters", "Jungleground" and the campy "Hell Comes to Frogtown".

 

But it was his role in John Carpenters 1988 sci-fi/horror "They Live" that he is probably best remembered for, which saw him taking on a group of aliens that had infiltrated society, that only he could see through a pair of special sunglasses. Spawning the infamous line "I Have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum".

 

Speaking to BBC news, director, John Carpenter, said: "He was an under-rated actor and just a marvellous entertainer and I feel like I've just lost one of my close friends.".

 

Roddy is survived by his wife Kitty and their 4 kids -- including 3 daughters and son Colton who's pursuing a career in professional wrestling.
 

He had recently completed filming scenes for the forthcoming film "The Chair", which is currently in post production. The following on-set interview, in which he talks to Girls N Corpses editor Robert Rhine is believed to be the last interview he gave prior to his death...
