This year, it will debut in Arizona at the fast-growing 9th Annual Chandler International Film Festival, the Romford Horror Festival in the United Kingdom (our first international screening), the Golden State Film Festival taking place at the famous Mann Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and finally at the prestigious 16th Annual Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema.
Directed by Russ Emanuel and written by the late Emile Haris, STAYCATION takes a darkly comedic look at humanity's response to a global pandemic.
Synopsis
Lead virologist Edward Bellows plays tête-a-tête with hard-hitting journalist Grace Baxter as the world collapses under the weight of a global pandemic. She holds nothing back as she fires question after question, seeking answers from the beleaguered professor. Meanwhile, Britt and Marnie, college roommates being forced to live together, must deal with their newfound realities of this global pandemic. And, a couple Matt and Cathy, stuck in lockdown and separated between continents, spend some belated quality time via webcam toasting to foreign brandy and reminiscing on the past.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Olivia d’Abo (The Wonder Years, Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Sean Kenney (Star Trek: The Original Series), Kelli Maroney (Night of the Comet), Laurene Landon (Maniac Cop), Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist), Tracee Cocco (Star Trek: The Next Generation), alongside fresh faces Catherine LaSalle, Lilly Ivring, Bailey Sorrel, Gilles Stricher, and Bill Victor Arucan.
Shot over 30 days between 2020 and 2022 under strict COVID-19 protocols, STAYCATION is a timely social commentary. It explores how a government-mandated quarantine impacts everyday lives as scientists race against time to find a cure.
