Marcia do Vales set to star in supernatural horror QUAIL HOLLOW

Having kick-assed her way through Brit zomcom Ibiza Undead, Brazilian-born actress Marcia do Vales is set to star in Quail Hollow (working title), in which she plays identical twins with some pretty scary powers.

Directed by Spaniard Javier De Prado, and produced by UK’s Templeheart Films, the supernatural horror begins shooting in locations around New Orleans in early 2017.

Storyline: Identical twin sisters Sunny and Mila (played by Marcia Do Vales) are born with paranormal powers. Separated at a young age, Sunny ends up institutionalised, while Mila tries to lead a normal life. Ten years on, Mila goes to Quail Hollow to investigate the strange circumstances of her sister's death and uncovers a shocking truth about their powers.

Marcia, one of the UK’s brightest horror genre imports, commented: “I’m really looking forward to taking on what will be my biggest acting challenge yet. My father was a twin, but unfortunately his brother died very young. So, I‘ve always had a very strong curiosity in identical twins and their unusual relationship”.

Marcia is not only carving a name for herself as a film actress, but gaining a reputation as a gifted producer, with Paul Hyett’s supernatural thriller Heretiks her latest credit. Before Marcia begins shooting Quail Hollow, she will feature in Dan Brownlie’s London-based horror thriller The Tombs. She is also currently producing The Foreseen, a supernatural chiller to be directed by Anthony Melton and Ben Franklin.

Haynes launches new Zombie Survival App

With The Walking Dead returning to our screens and Halloween – the day of the dead – having passed just days ago, Haynes has launched a new zombie app to help fans of the genre ensure they have the right survival skills should these two events have seen the zombie apocalypse become reality.

Based on the best-selling Haynes Zombie Survival Manual by Sean T Page, the Zombie Survival App is available to download for free from the iOS App Store.  It takes the manual’s hugely popular content and reformats it into the concept of persona types with corresponding survival techniques and the function to unlock other detailed crucial information. Importantly, it also educates the user in how to spot a zombie and signs to look out for.

With users being given the option to pick one of three survivor profiles – scientist, fighter or forager, they are then equipped with the tools to survive a zombie attack by navigating a series of chapters to understand more about the living dead.  Wannabe survivalists can also test their knowledge by challenging themselves to various quizzes at the end of each chapter to receive rewards.  On completing all chapters, users receive their official license to deal with the walking dead.

Capturing the imagination of Zombie fans, the survival techniques featured in the app are provided by Sean T Page, who runs the website Ministry of Zombies to raise awareness of the zombie threat.  In addition to the Zombie Survival Manual and the Alien Invasion Survival Manual from Haynes, Sean has also written The Official Zombie Handbook UK and War Against the Walking Dead.

Andrew Golby, Global Digital Director at Haynes Publishing, commented: “This new app is an exciting venture for Haynes, and the result of a collaboration between Haynes and author Sean T Page.

It also brings a new twist on our very rich heritage and reputation as the brand everyone trusts for practical information, ensuring that people are equipped with the essential low-down on how to survive the walking dead.”

The Zombie Survival app is available from iTunes

(An android app is apparently in the works)
