The CHUCKY franchise comes to UHD, December from Arrow

Arrow Video presents an incredible eight-disc collection of the Chucky films featuring the original horror favourite Child’s Play and its sequels: Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky, with stars including Brad Dourif, Catherine Hicks, Alex Vincent, Jenny Agutter, Jennifer Tilly, Katherine Heigl, and John Waters. Containing recent cast and crew interviews as well as Kyra Elise Gardner’s behind the scenes documentary Living with Chucky.

From his very first outing in 1988, Chucky the pint-sized, plastic 'Good Guy' doll has managed to carve out a unique and enduring legacy while trying his (plastic) hand at some truly creative, blood-soaked mayhem!

In Tom Holland (Fright Night)’s Child’s Play, a young Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) receives his very own Good Guy doll. Unluckily for both him and his mother Karen (Catherine Hicks), "Chucky" happens to contain the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif), and causes chaos for Andy and those around him, leaving a trail of corpses in his wake. In Child’s Play 2, Chucky returns in full mini-monster mode, terrorising Andy further in a sinister game of hide-and-seek. Child’s Play 3 sees a teenaged Andy (Justin Whalin) dealing with both military school and a recently resurrected Chucky.

In Ronny Yu’s Bride of Chucky, the doll with a killer personality returns and continues his murderous spree alongside his love, Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly). Series creator Don Mancini makes his directorial debut in Seed of Chucky, where Chucky and Tiffany continue their wicked antics after being resurrected by their living-doll child, Glen (Billy Boyd). Nine years later, Chucky chooses Nica (Fiona Dourif) and her family to torture in Mancini's Curse of Chucky, followed swiftly by Cult of Chucky, in which Nica faces the Good Guy once more with a little help from a grown-up Andy Barclay (Vincent).

Featuring brand new 4K restorations of the sequels with recent cast and crew interviews as well as Kyra Elise Gardner’s behind the scenes documentary Living with Chucky, you don't want to miss this toybox of terror from Arrow Video! Wanna play?

THE STRANGE CASE OF DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE - In UK cinemas and on Sky Arts.

THE STRANGE CASE OF DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE, director Hope Dickson Leach’s new version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story, co-written with Vlad Butucea, will be shown at selected cinemas in Scotland and UK, following its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August 2023 and will subsequently be broadcast on Sky Arts (Freeview) on 30 October at 9pm.

Adapted from the original novella and relocated from London to Edinburgh, this film is a National Theatre of Scotland and Selkie Productions supported by Screen Scotland and Sky Arts. The film is distributed in cinemas by Cosmic Cat.

Filmed largely within the atmospheric setting of Edinburgh’s historic Leith Theatre, THE STRANGE CASE OF DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE was originally presented in February 2022 as a performed live, filmic experience in the venue.

Embracing the duality of the storyline and the period authenticity, the film was shot in black and white. It features a cast of leading Scottish stage and screen talent and music by DJ and music producer Hudson Mohawke and composer Hutch Demouilpied (Limbo).

THE STRANGE CASE OF DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE by Hope Dickson Leach and Vlad Butucea, returns to Edinburgh born writer Robert Louis Stevenson’s original story which was published in 1886. The drama follows Gabriel Utterson as he enters a world of dark duplicity to uncover the identity of the mysterious Mr Hyde and the hold he has over Utterson’s old friend Dr Jekyll.

In this version, Utterson’s journey is set against the background and backdrop of Victorian Edinburgh, where the wealth of the breweries is contrasted with the poverty of the Cowgate Vaults, exposing an underbelly of dark truths and corruption. Concerned by his good friend Dr Henry Jekyll’s recent behaviour, Gabriel Utterson is driven to uncover the identity of the mysterious and dangerous Mr. Hyde, to whom Jekyll is enthralled.

Whilst on this search for the truth, Utterson finds himself seduced by the society of Edinburgh’s rich and powerful, but beneath the glossy façade lies a grim and brutal reality. This is a Jekyll and Hyde reworked for a contemporary audience with the themes of power, class and masculinity brought to the fore.

Puppet Horror Film ABRUPTIO - Screening at Grimmfest, Manchester Oct 8th

The puppet horror film, ABRUPTIO, the third feature from writer/director Evan Marlowe, is set to screen as the closing film at Grimmfest on October 8th!

The stacked voice cast includes James Marsters (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Christopher McDonald (Hacks), Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect), Jordan Peele (Get Out), the late Sid Haig (House Of 1000 Corpses) and Robert Englund (A Nightmare On Elm Street). The film is scored by Savage & Spies (The Human Centipede) and was produced by Kerry Marlowe.

The movie, enacted entirely using lifelike puppets, follows Les Hackel (Marsters), a guy down on his luck, who wakes to find an explosive device has been implanted in his neck. He must carry out heinous crimes in order to stay alive while trying to identify the mastermind manipulating the now twisted and strange world around him.

ABRUPTIO
has been an international festival darling and has garnered numerous awards, including Best Horror Film, Best Director, Best Cast and Best Effects.

Speaking about the film, Director Evan Marlowe has said:
"The advantage of puppets is they never age. You can capture a vocal performance and then spend the next few years shooting the film at your leisure. You can also do things with a puppet that would be impossible, or at least very painful, using a live human!"

Reviews of the film have been glowing. Dread Central has said, "Nothing in this movie comes close to being normal", while Fanboy Planet said, "A fever dream, Abruptio weaves in stylistic touches from 1970s horror cinema and manga", and Morbidly Beautiful has said, "Abruptio is astonishing - a film full of puppets that probes the depth of humanity."
