Māori gothic horror MĀRAMA in cinemas 11 December

1859. A young Māori woman, Mary Stevens (Ariāna Osborne), arrives in Whitby after a 73 day journey from New Zealand only to discover that the man she was to meet is dead.

 

Trapped without prospects in an unfamiliar, hostile environment Mary is obliged to accept work as a governess for Sir Nathaniel Cole (Toby Stephens), a local landowner with a vast fortune made as a South Seas whaler. But when Mary moves into Cole’s grand country house, she gradually discovers he is an obsessive, fetishistic collector of Māori cultural artefacts and she begins to uncover the full, horrific truth of her colonial heritage.

Written and directed by Taratoa Stappard; and starring Ariāna Osborne, Toby Stephens (Die Another Day, Black Sails), Erroll Shand (Evil Dead Burn), Umi Myers (Bob Marley: One Love) and introducing Evelyn Towersey.

Sky Confirms CRYSTAL LAKE UK Launch for 19 October

Sky confirms CRYSTAL LAKE, the highly anticipated new series from A24 and creator, writer, executive producer and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice, Warrior) will drop all episodes on Sky and NOW on Monday 19 October. 

Expanding the iconic ‘Friday the 13th’ universe, the eight-part series stars Emmy-winner Linda Cardellini (DTF St. Louis, Dead To Me) and will be available exclusively on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK and Ireland from this October.

Hammer Films announces the return of DRACULA to the big screen

The time is nigh…After more than six decades, the Count returns looking better than ever in the cut the censors tried to bury. DRACULA, Hammer’s definitive horror classic, now restored in stunning 4K will be released in cinemas from 16th October.

Featuring material previously seen only during the film’s original Japanese theatrical run, DRACULA has been painstakingly restored by Hammer Films and Silver Salt Restoration in partnership with Warner Bros.

This October’s release in over 100 cinemas across the UK will offer audiences the chance to experience Christopher Lee’s unforgettable portrayal of Count Dracula and Peter Cushing’s iconic Van Helsing in stunning new detail, complete with a brand new 5.1 surround sound mix and an exclusive look behind the scenes at this landmark restoration.

Hammer Films changed horror cinema forever as Christopher Lee’s unmistakable profile loomed at the top of a dark staircase before declaring, “I am Dracula”. Lee’s performance redefined the vampire on screen for generations, introducing the bloodshot eyes, predatory fangs and visceral physicality that became the blueprint for modern vampire mythology and whose influence can still be seen across horror cinema today.
 
Hammer’s DRACULA marked only the second on-screen pairing of legendary horror icons Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, further establishing one of the most celebrated rivalries in cinema history. FILM NEWS (UK): Tubi FrightFest announces line-up for Halloween 2026

Hot on the hellish heels of its spectacular 27^th year August five-day event, the UK’s most vibrant genre film festival returns to the ODEON Luxe West End in Leicester Square to present its annual 2-day Halloween event.

 

Taking over both screens on Friday 30^th October and Saturday 31^st October, the spine-chilling line-up heralds nine premieres from five countries, spanning Europe, North and South America and Australia/Oceania. Each film will be screened twice.

So, hold on tight as Tubi Frightfest takes you on a spooky, carnage-crammed journey featuring powerful mutants, seasonal spooks, psychotic neighbours, venomous spiders, vengeful werewolves, and shocking Christmas tales where it’s not just the turkey that is carved up.

 

Opening the gates to ‘Helloween’ is the UK premiere of FREAKS PART II, which sees Final Destination Bloodlines co-directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein return to the mutant roots of their sleeper 2018 cult hit Freaks and this time the Canadian sci-fi horror thriller is even more tense and gory. Zach and Adam will both be in attendance.

Next, we travel to the dark woodlands of Cornwall as Friday’s line-up continues with the World premiere of J.P. Davidson’s haunting and gritty Halloween Folk horror THE CULL, starring Craig Russell, who FrightFest audiences will remember from his cannibalistic turn in Protein.

Some of the cast and crew will be joining us.

The first day closes with the UK premiere of the ‘meanest slasher of the year’ AMERICAN DOLLHOUSE, a modern take on Psycho and Black Christmas, boasting, in unhinged neighbour Sandy,  one of creepiest horror antagonists to hit screens in a long time.

 

Saturday kicks off with the UK premiere of TALKING TO A STRANGER, a supernatural thriller directed by genre visionary and FrightFest favourite Adrián García Bogliano and starring acclaimed filmmaker Gigi Saul Guerrero in her first leading role.

Then it’s time to bring early holiday cheer and gross-out queasiness to Central London with the UK premiere of Canadian director Michael Gabriele’s UNHOLY NIGHT, an Xmas season’s slay ride reminiscent of a lost chapter of The Evil Dead franchise.

This is followed by the World premiere of Sean Hogan’s THE DARK GETS IN. FrightFest has a long history with writer/director Sean Hogan. From The Devil’s Business to Isle of Dogs and Daddy’s Girl. Now comes his latest innovative shocker - an audacious mix of Found Footage, faux documentary and edge-of-the-seat chiller. Sean will be joining us, alongside some of the cast and crew.
 

 

Next up, from Marcel Walz, the king of ‘splatterific’ gore, comes the World premiere of BRUTE 1986, the ultra-violent sequel to Brute 1976. Marcel, known for FrightFest hits Blood Feast, Blind, and Pretty Boy will be attending.

 

The penultimate presentation is a special screening of CRAWLERS. which follows the tenants of an apartment complex fighting to survive a catastrophic, fast-multiplying infestation of venomous spiders. Matilda Lutz's commanding lead performance grounds this ultra-claustrophobic body horror thriller.

Completing the line-up is the UK premiere of DEAD HOWLING, an action-packed, post-apocalyptic Werewolf vs Zombies horror from the producer of cult genre hit Dog Soldiers. Cast incudes Ryan Kwanten (True Blood, Dead Silence) and Temuera Morrison (The Mandalorian, Aquaman).

STAB Horror Film Season returns to Manchester's CULTPLEX for a month of horror!

Manchester’s CULTPLEX is once again lifting the coffin lid on the North’s biggest horror extravaganza as STAB Horror Film Season returns this October for a full month of sinister cinema, creepy classics, terrifying television and enough big-screen horror to keep even the bravest audiences awake at night.

 

Now firmly established as CULTPLEX’s annual celebration of all things horrifying, from 1st October to All Hallows Eve, every film gracing CULTPLEX’s big screen will be dedicated to horror bringing together a bloody blend of cult favourites, genre classics, modern nightmares, movie marathons and a bone chilling all nighter.

This year’s programme promises plenty of familiar faces, with the season kicking off with the annual screening of The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974) filmed right here in Manchester. We also welcome the return of the now official cult classic Ghost Hunting with Girls Aloud as well as The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Simpsons Quiz hosted by the award winning comedy heroes of A Lovely Time.

For those interested in true classic horror the latest Hammer Uncut and Uncensored restoration of Christopher Lee’s Dracula (1954) will be making an appearance alongside the 50th anniversary of Brian De Palma’s Carrie (1976), as well as a celebration of the iconic Tim Curry as Pennywise in Stephen King’s IT (1990).

At CULTPLEX, world cinema is a huge part of the everyday programme, but never more so than the month of October. Starting in Mexico with the fantasy crime horror Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017) then the edge of your seat Korean masterpiece I Saw

The Devil (2010), and, forget the American remake, CULTPLEX are screening the original Danish language Speak No Evil (2022), a surefire way to ruin your entire week.

The season will also play host to the UK Premiere of Velocipastor 2, bringing prehistoric religious mayhem back to the big screen. The cinema promises you will never have seen or experienced anything quite like it.

Other special presentations include a very chaotic bottomless booze Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) and a Haunted House All Nighter featuring The Shining (1980), Japanese cult classic Hausu (1977), Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond (1981) and, of course, the original Poltergeist (1982).

And as the month draws to a close, on Halloween itself, all tickets will be £6.66, the lowest and scariest ticket price in Manchester. But that certainly doesn’t mean the scares are cheap. The day starts with family favourite Hocus Pocus (1993) and ends with a daring double bill of Curry Baker’s Obsession (2026) and Sam Raimi’s stone-cold classic Evil Dead II (1987) for one final night of big-screen horror.
And that’s not even scratching the coffin lid.

Whether you’re looking for a classic you’ve been dying to see on the big screen, a cult oddity you’ve never heard of, or simply an excuse to spend the whole of October watching horror films, STAB Horror Film Season has something lurking in the shadows.

Psychological sci-fi horror THE NICE ONES - At UK cinemas, November.

Joelle Rae (The Witcher) and Emrhys Cooper (Nosferatu) star in new psychological horror and sci-fi thriller THE NICE ONES, coming to UK cinemas from 19th November.

 
The film will also be available on streaming services in North America & other territories from 29th September.

The Nice Ones follows a group of friends whose countryside Airbnb getaway takes a terrifying turn when Kate witnesses strange lights moving across the night sky. As tensions within the group rise, a terrifying force begins to seep into the house, forcing Kate to confront her darkest past and an otherworldly threat.

Written and directed by Peter Stylianou, whose 2024 vampire feature Drained marked him as an intriguing new voice in independent filmmaking, 
THE NICE ONES brings together psychological horror and sci-fi, drawing inspiration from genre classics including The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Alongside Rae and Cooper, the ensemble cast includes Donna Preston (The Sandman, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Ian Whyte (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Daniela Norman (Tiny Pretty Things), Ayvianna Snow (How to Kill Monsters), James Akka (The Sandman), Nick Lavelle (Red XII), Tom Kelsey (National Theatre Live: Dr. Strangelove) and Andrew Lyle-Pinnock (The Little Mermaid).

The film also marks the producing debut of actor Ayvianna Snow, who has launched her own production company, Snow Pictures, with THE NICE ONES as its first feature. Ayvianna produces the film alongside Peter Stylianou and Nick Lavelle.

Peter Stylianou said, "Instead of making darkness the source of fear, as so many horror films do, I wanted to explore light — and the darker, more disturbing, cult-like side of worshipping it. The Nice Ones is a mix of the Manson Family and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, exploring what happens when something that appears beautiful, pure and inviting becomes deeply sinister."

First images revealed for new gothic horror thriller THE NARROW HOUSE

The team behind THE NARROW HOUSE shared the first official images from the film, previewing the suffocating, gothic atmosphere set to make it one of the most anticipated horror releases in Paraguayan cinema.

The images confirm the project's distinctive visual identity: enclosed spaces, bodies gripped by fear, and an old Asunción mansion that seems to close in around its inhabitants. Rather than functioning merely as a setting, the house is a living presence, charged with secrets, capable of turning the everyday into something threatening.

Directed by Armando Aquino (Ore Ru, Leal 2, Renacer Albirrojo) and Hernán Moyano (The Red Book Ritual: Gates of Hell, Sudor frío, Belisario, el pequeño gran héroe del cosmos), the film features a cast led by Lizzie Gómez, Diro Romero (Narciso), Natalia Cálcena (Narciso), Matías Miranda (Sé valiente), Lia Love (No entres), Alejandra Cabral Valinotti, and Alberto Jara.

THE NARROW HOUSE  is built as a slow-burn experience: a film that isn't after the immediate jump scare, but a growing sense of unease. The horror seeps in gradually — through gestures, silences, rooms, and relationships — until the lines between trauma, delusion, and supernatural threat blur completely.

Written by Hernán Moyano, the film converses with genre touchstones like Hereditary, The Others, and Drag Me to Hell, among other works, blending body horror and paranormal dread within an unsettling domestic universe.

Cinematography is by Armando Aquino himself, who builds a visual language defined by confinement, darkness, and the gradual distortion of space.

The soundtrack will feature the original track "Sueño de tus ojos" by the legendary Paraguayan rock duo IODI, and the original track "Crucigrama" by pop singer Lia Love.

With post-production already underway — led by professionals from Paraguay and Argentina — THE NARROW HOUSE is preparing to begin its international festival run toward the end of 2026, ahead of its theatrical release across the region.
