Screen Baddie Richard Lynch - RIP

It has been widely reported that character actor Richard Lynch has passed away.

Probably best remembered for playing baddies in various film and TV shows, horror fans will probably know him from his roles in films like "Cut and Run", "Puppet Master 3", "Scanner Cop" and more recently "Laid to Rest" and the "Halloween" remake by Rob Zombie.

He also appeared in various TV shows, including the original "Battlestar Gallactica", "The A-Team", "The Fall Guy" and the likes of "Charmed" and "Six Feet Under".

He had just finished filming "Lords of Salem", another Rob Zombie film, which is currently in post-production.

The actor was found dead in his home in California on Tuesday the 19th, he was 76 years old.

Farewell Richard, you will be sadly missed!

Horror Channel takes "Umbrage"!

DREW CULLINGHAM’S "UMBRAGE: THE FIRST VAMPIRE" GETS ITS UK TV PREMIERE ON HORROR CHANNEL

Marking his feature film debut with this twisted cocktail of mythology, horror and vampiristic mayhem, Drew Cullingham’s dark fairytale stars Doug Bradley (of HELLRAISER fame) as Jacob, an unscrupulous antiques dealer who unwittingly unleashes supernatural forces beyond his comprehension.

A night of unmitigated terror lays ahead as Lilith, the mother all of vampires, (played by Natalia Celino) does battle with Phelan (Jonnie Hurn), an Irish gun-toting cowboy turned vampire. Trapped in the middle of this escalating gore war are Jacob, his wife and their wayward daughter, who has fallen under Phelan’s spell…

Cullingham says his about his movie: “The main birth of Umbrage was the cowboy-vampire figure, Phelan.   I had for some time been carrying this character around in my head.  Mashing horror and western together is not completely original, I know, but I just wanted to cross a cowboy with a vampire.  Vampires can sometimes be a little effete, but add a gruff cowboy veneer to that and you have a whole different kettle of fish”.

The Life and Death of a Porno Gang - US Blu-Ray/DVD

More powerful than A SERBIAN FILM! This violent, gory and thought-provoking film is one of the most controversial releases of this… or any other… year! THE LIFE AND DEATH OF A PORNO GANG will shock you like no other Synapse Films release.

During the final days of Slobodan Milošević’s Serbian rule, a young film student named Marko (Mihajlo Jovanovic) becomes desperate to make a feature film. Finally getting a job as an adult film director, he quickly runs afoul of the mob and needs to get out of town fast!

Assembling a traveling “porno cabaret” with a group of misfits, Marko and his new friends ride though the quiet countryside in a beat up van performing live sex acts for peasants and farmers. But, life is hard on the road and they are barely making enough money to survive. Marko meets a shady snuff film producer who says they can make a lot more money shooting actual murders, theatrically “performed” on willing participants. This is one offer the struggling porno gang cannot refuse!

Synapse Films is proud to present Mladen Djordjevic’s controversial film, THE LIFE AND DEATH OF A PORNO GANG. Not for the faint of heart or weak-minded, this critically acclaimed shocker is “bursting with outrageous characters and shocking situations… a candy-colored suicide bus to hell” (Mitch Davis, Fantasia Film Festival). This is funny, gruesome, sexy and jaw-dropping adults-only entertainment.

The film is released to disc in the US August 15.

Raven Waiting

Film maker Dan Rowbottom recently got in touch to tell me about his new film "Raven Waiting" which is currently in the pre-production stages.

The story of Raven Waiting takes us within the confines of a decaying dickensian town where the inhabitants live in fear of creatures attacking in the night. The film follows Juliette as she is drawn into a story of underground societies and creatures that protect the night.

"The film at first appears to be a dickensian drama but quickly reveals itself to be a fantasy adventure full of creatures, sprites and adventurers" say director Dan Rowbottom, who's inspiration for Raven Waiting comes from his love of films like ‘The Dark Crystal’, ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’, 'Lord of the Rings' and ‘Brazil’.

The film will work with local talent in the North West (UK) and is currently featured on sponsume.com as part of a crowd funding campaign.

For more info about the film, and for details on to help sponsor the production, checkout the films official website and blog at http://www.ravenmovie.co.uk

When those closest to him become threatened by the vengeful woman in black, Kipps must find a way to break the cycle of terror.

With a fantastic supporting cast including Oscar nominee Janet McTeer (Albert Nobbs, Tumbleweeds), Ciarán Hinds (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife, Robin Hood), Shaun Dooley (Great Expectations, South Riding), and produced by the iconic Hammer Films, are you brave enough to spend time with The Woman in Black?
