Psychological thriller, THE SWERVE, released Digitally Sept 22

 

Holly seems to have it all: two kids, a nice house, a good job as a teacher, and a husband with his career on the way up. But there are troubling signs that all is not right in her world.

The insomnia. The medication for the insomnia. The dreams from the medication for the insomnia. The arrival of her estranged sister and a mouse invading her home don’t help either. Add the weight of a dark secret, and her already delicate balance collapses, sending her spiraling out of control.

With her riveting and acclaimed performance as Holly, Azura Skye (One Missed Call) effortlessly crafts a portrait of a struggling mother on the edge. Writer/director Dean Kapsalis’s powerfully heart-wrenching feature debut explores a week in the life of a woman on the verge in this haunting meditation on mental illness.

THE SWERVE celebrated its world premiere at the 2019 Cinepocalypse Film Festival, and screened at the 2019 Panic Film Festival; winning both awards for Best Actress for Azura Skye. The film will be releasing on major VOD/Digital platforms beginning Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

CASPER VAN DIEN and JUDD NELSON star in DEAD WATER this October

It’s strife on the ocean waves, as an ex-Marine comes face to face with a modern-day pirate in the psychological thriller DEAD WATER, which comes to UK Disc and Digital this October.

Wealthy doctor John Livingstone (Casper Van Dein - Starship Troopers, The Pact) is planning “a couple of days on the water, breathing the sea air”, sailing his expensive new yacht in the Virgin Islands, with his troubled buddy, former Marine David (Griff Furst - Terminator Genisys), and David’s wife Viviane (Brianne Davis - TV's True Blood) along for the trip. 

John and Viviane hope the excursion will provide David - troubled with PTSD - with some much needed rest and recreation. But, once out on the open water, tensions begin to arise, loyalties are tested, and the last thing they need is an extra passenger, in the form of the mysterious Sam McLean (Judd Nelson - TV's Empire, St Elmo's Fire), a pirate who has designs on John’s luxurious boat - even it means killing to get it.

With Van Dien as a likeable, but somewhat shady lead, Judd Nelson a remarkably shifty bad guy, and Griff Furst as a man battling to save all he holds dear, Director Chris Helton’s debut film is a sleek, impressive ninety-minutes. With pulpy B-movie thrills and unsettling mind games, in spectacular Caribbean scenery, it’s as taut as a sail rope in a force 10 gale, with more twists and turns than a rigging knot. DEAD WATER is a boat trip fans of Adrift and Dead Calm are going to want to take.

William Shatner takes on Satan in THE TOMB: DEVILS REVENGE

All hell is about to break loose as William Shatner takes on Satan in The Tomb: Devil’s Revenge, out now on DVD and Digital platforms from 4Digital.

The Descent meets The Exorcist, with a dash of Raiders of the Lost Ark thrown in for good measure, in this suspenseful thrill-ride starring iconic Star Trek legend William Shatner, Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager), Jason Brooks (Star Trek, 2009), Jackie Dallas (Stranger Things) and Michael Yahn (Daredevil).

Synopsis: John Brock is a down-on-his-luck archaeologist who returns from an expedition to the caves of rural Kentucky, after unsuccessfully trying to locate a mysterious relic that his family has sought for generations. Upon his return, John starts to see dream-like visions of a ferocious bird-like creature from ancient folklore.

John soon learns that the cave he came into contact with on his last expedition was indeed the cave that contains the relic, and also a portal to Hell and a place of worship for the occult. John discovers that the only way to stop the increasingly realistic visions is to go back to the cave with his family, find the relic once and for all, and destroy it... 

Featuring, according to Nerdly, “absolutely AMAZING creature designs”, buckets of blood, and, of course, Shatner on top form, The Tomb: Devil’s Revenge is B-movie mayhem that delivers demonic thrills and underground chills.

THE OTHER LAMB - coming October

Curated global streaming service and distributor MUBI is pleased to announce the UK and Irish release of Małgorzata Szumowska’s striking English language debut THE OTHER LAMB. The film will release exclusively on MUBI and in select cinemas on 16 October 2020, followed by a Home Entertainment release on DVD 26 October 2020. The film is now available to pre-order here.

Deep in the woods, an all-female cult is presided over by a single man in this haunting folk horror from acclaimed director Małgorzata Szumowska (NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN, BODY, MUG, ELLES). FESTIVAL NEWS (UK): TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA to open Arrow Video FrightFest October 2020

Four years after TRAIN TO BUSAN was voted the most popular FrightFest Closing Night film ever, comes the hotly anticipated stand-alone sequel, TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA, which will open this year’s Arrow Video FrightFest October event, courtesy of STUDIOCANAL. The film will play on Thurs Oct 22, 6pm, across three screens at the Cineworld, Leicester Square.

Jung-seok (Gang Dong-won), a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation on the quarantined peninsula with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.

STUDIOCANAL will preview the film for Halloween, it will then be released in cinemas on Nov 6 and available on Blu-ray, DVD & Digital from Nov 30.
