The latest from the writer of Blair Witch, The Guest and V/H/S, TEMPLE is a frightening horror steeped in Japanese folklore.

After locals in a northern Japanese village discover a body horribly disfigured by injuries that make identification impossible, it’s down to them to piece together found footage captured by a group of young Americans who were believed to be lost in a remote temple that’s a focal point of superstition.
 

As they begin to discover the truth, however, the mystery as to the whereabouts of these missing tourists becomes increasingly chilling.

ANTI-MATTER - In US cinemas and on VOD this September.

Writer-director Keir Burrow's critically acclaimed sci-fi masterpiece "Anti Matter" hits US theaters and VOD outlets this September from Uncork'd Entertainment. 

Experience "art-house psychological horror at its finest" (MovieCrypt.com) in a "stylish and intriguing" (Shadows on the Wall) take on "Alice in Wonderland". 

Ana, an Oxford PhD student finds herself unable to build new memories following an experiment to generate and travel through a wormhole. The story follows her increasingly desperate efforts to understand what happened, and to find out who – or what - is behind the rising horror in her life.

Featuring a cast "anchored by a strong performance from Yaiza Figueroa" (Eye for Film), "Anti Matter" is a "taut thriller that should appeal to both hard sci-fi fans and those who don’t know their wormholes from their warp drives" (One Room With a View).

DEMON HUNTER to slice and dice on US VOD this August!

From Wild Eye Releasing comes Demon Hunter, writer-director Zoe Kavanagh’s “genre hugging” (The Irish Times) horror-actioner, available on US VOD from August 15.

Underwood meets Buffy in a frenetic slice n’ dice that’s taken home more than 15 awards, including Best Director at the Fright Fest International Film Festival.

“Bring your samurai sword” (Horror Buzz) to the chronicle a young woman, half demon/half human who helps a detective rescue his daughter from a demonic cult.

After she is captured by police for questioning in the slaying of a man she claimed was a demon, Taryn Barker must prove her innocence, and the existence of demons. But when a cult captures the daughter of one of the detectives on the case, the police must trust, and unleash, this warrior on the Satantic group who are intent on bringing an ancient evil force into the world.  

Niamh Hogan, Alan Talbot, Kevin O'Malley, Nic Furlong, Sarah Tapes Jenkinson, and Margarita Grillis star in a film that “keeps on the gas until the credits roll” (Beyond the Gore).

Synopsis: 

A group of friends are spending the weekend at a cabin on the lake while, unbeknownst to them, aliens have begun to attack planet Earth. A number of the friends are abducted immediately by the ship hovering above, and the remaining two of the group, Annie and Charlie, must rely on an eccentric and dangerous hunter who seems to have special knowledge of the attack, explaining that this day has been prophesized for years and extraterrestrials have been guiding Earth’s evolution in preparation for their ultimate takeover.

Wesley Snipes (Blade, The Expendables 3, Gallowwalkers), RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad) and Jedidiah Goodacre (Monster Trucks, Tomorrowland) star.

"The Exorcist" to be unleashed onto the West End stage for the very first time

Forty-five years after William Peter Blatty’s best-selling novel terrified an entire generation, The Exorcist will be unleashed onto the West End stage for the very first time in a uniquely theatrical experience directed by Sean Mathias and adapted for the stage by John Pielmeier.

The Exorcist will play a strictly limited run at the Phoenix Theatre from 20 October 2017 to 10 March 2018. Tickets will go on general sale at 4pm on Friday 11 August.

Widely considered the scariest movie of all time, the film adaptation of The Exorcist sparked unprecedented worldwide controversy when it was released in cinemas in 1973. Winner of two Academy Awards, William Friedkin’s masterpiece saw audiences petrified to the point of passing out and went on to become one of the top ten highest grossing films of all time.

Sean Mathias has worked at the Royal National Theatre and many times in the West End and on Broadway, as well as extensively internationally. In 2009/2010 Sean’s production of Waiting For Godot played two seasons at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and toured the UK and internationally. In 2013 Godot played Broadway along with his production of Pinter’s No Man’s Land, the latter transferring to Wyndham’s Theatre in October 2017 starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, and won Best Revival at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2016.

The Exorcist is designed by Olivier Award-winning Designer Anna Fleischle (Hangmen) with lighting by Tim Mitchell (RSC/Guys and Dolls), composition and sound design by Adam Cork (London Road) and illusion design is by Ben Hart (Impossible).

Satanic obsession puts pressure on the case in "Charismata" Trailer

Independent London based filmmakers, Andy Collier and Tor Mian, have released their unsettling trailer for feature horror film "Charismata", which looks at the impact of female oppression in the world of a Satanic murder case.

Synopsis

When Detective Rebecca Faraway is thrown head first into a cult murder case, she finds the male-dominated world forces her into obsession and suspicion. As the case develops and her instincts are ignored by those around her, paranoia combined with hysteria and delusions transcends into a demonic game of cat and mouse between her and the enigmatic suspect Michael Sweet. Divulging deeper into Faraway’s delicate mind, the main suspect shows her that death is merely the beginning of what could be the struggle to keep her soul and sanity.

Sarah Beck Mather (Rebecca Faraway) has been credited notably for her incredible performance in Charismata, alongside Jamie Satterthwaite (Michael Sweet); who together build a disturbing and manipulative relationship. Charismata also stars Andonis Anthony who plays Faraway’s sarcastic and crude-humoured partner Detective Eli; and Johnny Vivash who portrays the hapless and illequipped security manager who is another suspect.

The release date of Charismata and the distribution company are yet to be confirmed.

The horror feature is the first film that Andy and Tor have cowritten and co-directed together, with it also being Andy’s first feature as director. Tor and Andy previously worked on the highly acclaimed micro-budget features The Sky in Bloom and The Milky Way, both which were written and directed by Tor Mian.

BFI Southbank presents "Stephen King Season" this Sep-Oct.

Is there a contemporary novelist who has had a greater impact on cinema than Stephen King? Since Carrie’s telekinetic meltdown at the prom over four decades ago, his creations have hit screens, both big and small, with unwavering regularity. 

Scarcely a year passes without a handful of new interpretations, and now, with over 100 features, shorts and (in name only) sequels in existence, the ‘Stephen King movie’ is a sub-genre in itself. 

But while King’s name is synonymous with horror, this season proves his work can make for richly varied, genre-bending cinema. As 2017 sees an exciting new crop of adaptations including It and The Dark Tower, and King’s 70th birthday, there’s no better time to celebrate and re-evaluate his invaluable contribution to the moving image.
