"Beacon Point" acquired by Uncork'd for 2017 US release

Highly-anticipated science-fiction thriller Beacon Point has been picked up for distribution by Home Entertainment and Theatrical Film Distributor Uncork'd Entertainment.

The film, called “an intelligent and interestingly innovative inferno of horror, science fiction, folklore and thrills”, is the brainchild of rising newcomer Eric Blue.

Zoe has quit her job to hike the Appalachian Trail as a tribute to her deceased father. She joins a small group of inexperienced hikers for an adventure of a lifetime. The group is, Dan, recently divorced and looking for a change from Silicon Valley, Cheese, a 17 year old kid, and Brian, his half brother he has just met. They are led by Drake, a hot headed trail master with a questionable past.

They are upbeat as they set out on the ten day trek through the Great Smokey Mountains. Drake leads them away from the main trail and the tourists, promising a grand adventure and sights they’d never see with the standard tour. After a gruesome discovery, they become lost deep in the mountains. The adventure spins out of control when they are terrorized at their campsite by an unseen force.

Rae Olivier, Jon Briddell, Eric Goins, Jason Burkey, and RJ Shearer star in an Eric Blue film, written by Blue and Traci Carroll.

Uncork’d Entertainment President Keith Leopard says audiences are “in for a treat here. As those that caught the film on the festival circuit earlier this year will attest to, Eric Blue has crafted a very unique and rather captivating science fiction film.”

The Georgia-produced chiller, produced by Blue Lantern Films, is will be released in the US sometime in 2017

Nucleus Films to restore cult classics through Indiegogo campaign

Nucleus Films, one of the UK’s leading cult film labels, has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to remaster two classic Italian cult movies from the original negatives: DEATH LAID AN EGG (La morte ha fatto l'uovo, 1967) and LADY FRANKENSTEIN (La figlia di Frankenstein, 1971). Both films will be remastered from the Italian negatives for the very first time.

The campaign will give fans the chance to finally own definitive 2k restored versions of these highly sought after cult classics as ultimate collectible Blu-ray limited editions.

Marc Morris, co-director of Nucleus Films said today: “Nucleus Films have never taken on a project of this scale. The only way to do the definitive releases is to go back to the Italian licensors and do a deal for all the original materials to access the negatives and get them remastered properly. Because we're a small company we can't afford to do this without YOUR HELP to raise the money for the licensing, expert remastering, Blu-ray authoring, production of extras, artwork and BBFC classification costs”.

Fellow director Jake West added: “We want to create the ultimate collectors’ editions that you'll be proud to own. And, if this goes well we plan to unearth many more Euro-Cult titles that we know the fans are desperate for. We want your suggestions for forthcoming titles too, so please get involved with the Euro-Cult Restoration Project. This is just the start!”

Those who pledge will receive exclusive collectors’ numbered limited edition slipcases and a ‘thank you’ credit check for supporting the restoration. If you pledge at ANY LEVEL you are guaranteed a Blu-ray copy of Lady Frankenstein. So, the more you pledge the more you get! Jean-Louis Trintignant's Marco lives a double life. By day, he's a well-kept husband, married to the beautiful Anna (Gina Lollobrigida), who helps run the couple’s high-tech chicken farm. By night, he begs Anna's free-spirited cousin Gabrielle (Ewa Aulin of 'Candy' fame) to run away with him.

A crazy Giallo oozing with substance and style, all backed by an Avant-garde score and with a striking pop-art backdrop. What else would you expect from acclaimed cult director Giulio Questi (Django... Kill!)?

LADY FRANKENSTEIN
