WOLF MANOR - First Look at Poster and Trailer for British Horror

Lightbulb Film Distribution is delighted to share the poster and trailer for new British werewolf film, WOLF MANOR. 

The feature had its world premiere at FrightFest earlier this year, prior to recent screenings at Mayhem Film Festival and Abertoir Horror Festival. The film also recently played as part of the BFI’s Monsters and Movies programme.

Directed by Dominic Brunt and produced by Joanne Mitchell, the film was co-written by Joel Ferrari and Pete Wild. It stars James Fleet, John Henshaw, Jay Taylor and Thaila Zucchi.

During filming of a British, low-budget horror movie, the cast and crew begin disappearing. As the full moon rises, the nightmare begins, and the werewolf strikes.

Female Horror Filmmaker Breaks Crowdfunding Record with H.P. Lovecraft adaptation HAUNTER OF THE DARK

24 year old Megan Tremethick has just burst onto the indie horror filmmaking scene, with a spectacular funding campaign to produce a short film adaptation of THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK by horror legend H.P. Lovecraft. As a first-time horror filmmaker, Megan’s Kickstarter campaign met its ambitious funding goal in just 24 hours, and has already surpassed 500% of that goal in just 6 days. 

The success of this young woman may be attributed to an unlikely and charming demeanour, placing her at odds with what one often expects from trendy young filmmakers today. Less about social commentary, hashtags or isms, Megan instead proclaims her love of veteran Horror Icons such as Vincent Price and Edgar Allan Poe. 

THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK follows the chilling midnight adventures of a man, who is lured from his bed to investigate the dark recesses of a mysterious church tower. There, and alone in the darkness of that place, he encounters a chilling entity… a silhouetted figure, guarding an ancient crystal of incredible power. A crystal which carries a terrible curse. 

The film stars Gordon Holliday, whose visceral performance as an enthusiastic amputee was praised by the Soska Sisters, in Andy Stewart’s festival hit film, "Dysmorphia". 

The initial success of Megan’s crowdfunding campaign, has now also led to the successful funding of a second short film entitled, REVENGE OF INNSMOUTH. 

REVENGE OF INNSMOUTH is a startling horror set in a dystopian future, in which,  in a reversal of roles, the oppressed inhabitants of Innsmouth mount a violent bid for liberation against their hated human oppressors. Caught in the maelstrom of terror during the first night of their revolution is a young waitress, whose diner becomes the setting for brutal violence and unspeakable horror. 

But… who are the real monsters? The feared, fish-like creatures of Innsmouth, or the humans who keep them under lock and key?

The campaign now continues to raise funds for both films on Kickstarter, where Megan is offering digital downloads, artwork, production credits and even walk-on roles. 

The success of her campaign proves that a passionate audience for classic horror continues to exist, and that among young filmmakers today, there is no lack of affection for historic horror icons whose works continue to stand the test of time.

Producer Runaway Entertainment’s edge-of-your-seat, supernatural thriller 2:22 A GHOST STORY is one of the West End’s current major success stories and is set to transfer to its largest venue the Lyric Theatre where previews begin on 21 January. There are just 6 weeks left to see the current cast Tamsin Carroll, Felix Scott, Laura Whitmore and Matt Willis, with the final performance at the Criterion on 8 January. 

 

With a range of pantos and numerous Christmas Carol’s on stage this festival season, 2:22 - A GHOST STORY brings new meaning to the phrase ‘behind you!’ and definitely has more jump-scares than the classic Dickens tale.  This is a ghost story for the modern age with more night terrors than Scrooge can shake a stick at. 

 

Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and her new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer, so they are going to stay up… until 2.22am… and then they will know.

 

The production began its life last summer at the Noel Coward Theatre starring Lily Allen, Julia Chan, Hadley Fraser and Jake Wood. It then transferred to the Gielgud Theatre for 10 weeks from 4 December 2021. The production there, starring Stephanie Beatriz, James Buckley, Elliot Cowan and Giovanna Fletcher, completed its run on 12 February 2022. The current cast at the Criterion Theatre features Tom Felton as Sam, Mandip Gill as Jenny, Beatriz Romilly as Lauren and Sam Swainsbury as Ben. RABID is body horror as only Cronenberg can do, with sex and death inextricably linked thanks to Rose’s phallic parasite.

When their parents die in a car crash, the siblings rebel and brother, Leon brings Pin into the house to live with them. Sister Ursula happily entertains her brother’s delusions, but when she gets a new boyfriend and becomes absent, Leon and Pin begin to turn on her and anyone that gets in the way of their special family. Reminiscent of Hitchcock’s Psycho with its unsettling psycho-sexual familial feel, PIN is an underrated 80s horror gem.

One Script, Two Different Films - PANIC and CONVULSION - Coming soon

Cinema Epoch and Cineridge Entertainment have released the posters and trailers for the sci-fi thrillers, PANIC and CONVULSION. An experimental production where both films used mostly the same script to make two different films, with two different pairs of lead actors. 

Saint Heart and Shane Ryan-Reid star in PANIC, and Leonard Zhang and Jose Adam Alvarez star in CONVULSION. Supporting actors Chris Spinelli, Nicole D'Angelo, Johnny Mask and Lisa London served double duty on both films, along with director Gregory Hatanaka, from a script by Jamie Grefe. 

Both films were produced by Gregory Hatanaka, Shane Ryan-Reid, Chris Spinelli, Kelley Daniel, Nicole D'Angelo, Nino Cimino and Louis DeStefano.

Sprung from the deep genre wellspring of the Marshall-Uttley writing partnership, the world of NIGHTSHADE is set in a bustling 18th century English port city visited by a diverse manner of international traders, rogues, and vagabonds.

KING KONG (1976) - 4K re-issue coming December from StudioCanal.

STUDIOCANAL have announced a brand new 4K restoration of John Guillermin’s (Blazing Inferno, Death on the Nile) Academy Award Winning remake of iconic Hollywood classic, KING KONG (1976).  

 

Fred Wilson (Charles Grodin), an employee of a large American oil company, has been charged with a mission to find new oil wells. With a chartered boat, he sets off on a journey to an uninhabited island in the South Pacific. On board is also a stowaway: the palaeontologist Jack Prescott (Jeff Bridges) has smuggled himself onto the ship, as he hopes to examine a rare species of monkey on this island. On the way, after a violent storm, the expedition also takes on board the shipwrecked Dawn (Jessica Lange), who is floating in a lifeboat at sea.  

 

When the ship anchors off the island, however, it turns out not to be as uninhabited as everyone once thought. The natives of the island perform a strange ritual to worship a larger-than-life ape named "Kong".   As soon as they catch sight of the blonde Dawn, they decide they have found their perfect offering.  

 

Starring Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, Crazy Heart, True Grit) and Jessica Lange (Tootsie, American Horror Story), and produced by Hollywood legend Dino de Laurentiis (Flash Gordon, Nights of Cabiria, Barbarella), this retelling of the classic monster adventure film went on to jointly win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects (Carlo Rambaldi, Glen Robinson and Frank Van der Veer), as well as receiving Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography (Richard H.
