Mario Covone's feature film debut goes into OVERTIME

Mario Covone, writer of 2014’s critically acclaimed Reaper Comics horror series, VIDEO NASTY was set to release his feature film directorial debut "OVERTIME" earlier this year. Due to Covid 19, the project has been dormant, but Covone is adamant that he will release the movie before Christmas and has announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of the DVD and Blu Ray discs.

"We’ve all had a rough time of it this year, but at least we’re alive… and so is "OVERTIME". We may not be able to showcase the movie on the horror festival scene as we all wanted to, but with a successful Kickstarter, people can have the DVD to watch before Christmas." – Mario Covone, Director.

The Kickstarter will launch Monday September 28th, 2020. The campaign will fund the final production of the DVD and Blu Ray’s, including special bonus features. Rewards include copies of the movie, soundtrack, movie posters painted by the legendary Graham Humphreys, and associate producer credits.

Tier rewards will offered, where the director will Zoom or Skype the backer personally and can chat about movies or comics, or I can answer your burning questions on how to create your own." – Mario Covone.

About the film - A teacher works late into the night at school, marking papers, seemingly alone. But a presence is watching him from the shadows. Stalked through the winding corridors and trapped within, a sinister secret holds the key to his survival.

No stranger to political subtext within his work, Covone’s debut movie, which he has also penned, explores the real-world issues of violence in schools, and the dangers of media scaremongering, whilst maintaining a traditional horror backdrop with twists and turns aplenty.

The creative team – The cast and creative team are all newcomers to the industry, and Covone is using this platform to expose new and raw talent to the world of horror cinema.

WE GOT A MONKEY'S PAW - Indie Horror/Comedy short to Premiere online

A couple of roommates get into an impawsibly hairy situation while monkeying around with the occult.

Zack and Jakki are your typical “oddcouple” roommates. Jakki (Jacqueline Jandrell) likes staying in and reading a good book now and again, while Zack (Zack Ogle) has other hobbies, like summoning demons.

Things get hairy when Zack convinces Jakki to spend the day making wishes on a Monkey’s Paw.

Soon the two find themselves doing backflips, trying to undo the cataclysmic series of events they’ve set off.

Ghostbrides, demon boxes and dead-y bears, oh my!

This paw is definitely in the wrong hands.

Filmed by Indie director Aaron Pagniano, who also co-wrote the script with lead actor Zack Ogle, and shot over several months in their free time, this short film has played at over 35 festivals around the world, winning multiple awards, including accolades for directing, writing, editing, and for Jacqueline Jandrell’s hilarious performance.

This zany comedy is jam-packed with clever nods to horror tropes and is a love-letter to the genre. The film is finishing up it's current festival run, and will be premiering online with Alter on September 18th.

Home invasion thriller BECKY available Digitally 28th Sept

Teenager Becky takes on a gang of murderous escaped convicts, as Vertigo Releasing brings this stylish and shocking home invasion thriller to UK Digital outlets in September.

Rebellious teenager Becky and her father head for a weekend getaway at a lake house in an effort to reconnect. The trip takes a turn for the worse when her father’s new girlfriend and her son show up as well.

But that’s the least of Becky’s problems: before long, a group of escaped convicts, led by the murderous Dominick, take the family hostage. But they haven’t reckoned on the rage and resourcefulness of Becky.

Slickly and smartly directed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion (the duo behind cult horror comedy Cooties), this grisly cross between Home Alone and Last House on the Left features a fantastic lead performance from from Lulu Wilson (The Haunting of Hill House, Sharp Objects) who turns from a sulky teen into pint-sized Rambo.

Also featuring comedy A-listers Joel McHale (Community) and Kevin James (Paul Blart, Grown Ups) like you’ve never seen them before. With sterling support from Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale) and hulking former pro wrestler Robert Maillet, Becky is a trip you don’t want to miss.

Becky comes to UK Digital outlets 28th September from Vertigo.
