British Sci-Fi thriller WHITE CHAMBER available now on UK VOD

New British sci-fi thriller, WHITE CHAMBER is out now on Video On Demand platforms in UK and Ireland.

Socio-economic tensions in Britain have created a febrile atmosphere in which xenophobia, self-interest and greed flourished, leading to a backlash and the country is in the midst of a civil war as the State battles rebel militia for power.

A young woman who calls herself Ruth wakes up in a blindingly white cuboid room: the White Chamber. A gruff male voice from the outside demands information about the chamber and the laboratory that houses it, but she has none. Ruth claims she is merely an admin girl at the ‘facility’ which created the White Chamber.

To gain the answers he seeks, her captor utilises the gruesome functionality of the cuboid as an instrument of torture. The temperature within the chamber shifts between the extremes; water, spikes, acid and even lasers fire out of the structure’s perforated ceiling. Ruth’s mind, body and soul are thus pushed to their very limit.

Ruth begins to talk to her captor… but is she just saying anything to survive or does she know more about the forbidding White Chamber than she is letting on?

Directed by Paul Raschid and produced by Aviary Films, the film stars Shauna Macdonald (The Descent, TV’s In Plain Sight), Oded Fehr (The Mummy, Resident Evil, TV’s Young Justice), Amrita Acharia (Game Of Thrones, The Good Karma Hospital), and Nicholas Farrell (Chariots of Fire, TV’s Midsommer Murders, Will).

WHITE CHAMBER is available on VOD platforms in UK and Ireland including Amazon ( UK only). Google Play, iTunes, Microsoft Movies & TV, and PlayStation.

IRON SKY 2 : THE COMING RACE - UK BD review

Things are about to get Nazi again in the outrageous sequel IRON SKY 2 : THE COMING RACE, which is out now in the UK on BD, DVD and Digital.

Set 20 years after the events of the original film, the former Nazi moonbase is now refuge to survivors of the Nuclear war that took place on Earth following the attempted invasion.

With the base falling apart, they learn of a substance powering a secret underworld back on Earth that can help them rebuild and repair their base. And so a small group. lead by Obi Washington (Lara Rossi - TV's Crossing Lines), the daughter of James Washington from the first film, head to Earth to find this secret underworld and bring back this substance so they can save whats left of humanity.

But first they will have to fight past dinosaurs, shape changing lizards and even Adolf Hitler and countless other historical tyrants (inlcuding Stalin and Bin Laden) in order to obtain it.

Extremely tongue in cheek, this clearly borrows a few ideas from the old Amicus film "At The Earths Core" and I really enjoyed it. Yes, its more of a goofy comedy than a science fiction film, but I thought it was great fun.

Horror veteran Udo Kier returns in a dual role, playing Adolf Hitler as well as reprising his character of the Space Fuhrer from before. Also returning is Stephanie Paul as the Sarah Palin lookalike and Julie Deitze as Renate. Comedian Tom Green also pops up as an evangelical preacher, whose followers worship Apple boss Steve Jobs of all people.

If you didn't like the first film, then this might not be your cup of tea. But as a huge fan of the original, I loved it!!!

The review copy I viewed did not contain any suplemental features. No idea if the release copy will contain any extras.

Schramm – on Blu-ray from 29 July

Controversial German filmmaker Jörg Buttgereit (Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2) takes you into the twisted mind of a deranged sex killer in the last of his feature films to date, 1993’s deeply disturbing Schramm.

Lothar Schramm, the so-called “Lipstick Killer”, lies dying in a pool of blood and paint. As he expires, fragments of his life flash before his eyes – his uneasy friendship with the prostitute that lives next door (Nekromantik 2’s Monika M); the brutal slaughter of a pair of doorstep evangelists whose bodies he poses in obscene fashion; his unhealthy pastime of hammering nails into his own manhood.

Told in an entirely non-linear fashion, Jörg Buttgereit’s Schramm – with its nightmarish hallucinatory sequences involving severed limbs and gaping, sharp-toothed female genitalia – comes about as close as a film can get to transporting you directly into the world of a sick, disordered mind.
